Looking for fun activities to enjoy this May half term? There is plenty going on this half term, and with the amazing weather we’ve been having, we are sure to be enjoying lots of picnics and park play dates.  Check out these exciting events happening around West Berkshire:

Arts Crafts and Theatre:

City Arts Newbury – Wonder Words with Arty Pumpkin


Get creative at The City Arts. This workshop is for children 8 years old and over, teenagers and adults. A journey with words that resonate using wooden type woodblocks, printing on your own images or starting on a blank page. Arty will supply materials and show you how to have fun with old fashioned wood blocks    29th May. £20.  City Arts Newbury

The Base – Holiday Art Club
Explore your artistic side at The Base, featuring craft sessions and workshops.  The base is running a holiday art club, where children can experiment with different art techniques and creative projects.  Tuesday 27th May – Friday 30th May

Corn Exchange – The Baddies
Enjoy the family-friendly arts and crafts sessions going on this half term at the Corn Exchange as well as the fabulous Baddies.  The Baddies is a wickedly hilarious adaptation of Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s smash-hit story. Cobbs Playbarn – Kids Crafts Butterfly Cards

Join Cobbs Playbarn for some fun seasonal crafts.  Kids can get creative making beautiful Butterfly Cards using balloons, a perfect way to celebrate the season.

Nature Discovery Centre – Family Pond Dipping

What you can spot in the pond during the spring dipping workshop at the Nature Discovery Centre?

Picnic at Shaw House

Join the Snow Sisters for a show in the great Hall, followed by a picnic in the groundsTuesday 27th May/  10am, 12:30pm, and 3pm.  £7.50 per person

High Lodge Farm Big Bale Play

High Lodge Farm’s Big Bale Play opens this Saturday for nine days – come and climb, jump, hide, and explore this giant straw-filled maze of fun!
Don’t forget your trainers, lots of water… and your sense of adventure! 🌾✨
The main bale maze is perfect for children aged 5 – 14. There will be a separate enclosed under-5s area with smaller bales and a covered sandpit too.
Saturday, May 24th – Sunday, June 1st. Gates open at 10am – 5pm with last entry at 3:30pm. £4.50 (cheaper online).

Yattendon and Frilsham Fete
Don’t miss the vibrant Fun Fete in Yattendon, featuring stalls, games, and activities for the whole family. A great way to soak up the community spirit!

Fun with Boogie Mites
Sing, dance, and make music with Boogie Mites, an interactive session perfect for energetic little ones.  Enjoy the fun session at Cobbs Playbarn in Hungerford, or the Nature Sound Seekers at the Nature Discovery Centre
