May is kicking off in style with the Bank Holiday Weekend bringing loads of great entertainment. Victoria Park is packed with fun things to do, and with VE Day coming up, there’s even more to enjoy. Shaw House has some lovely events, including picnics perfect for a sunny day, and as always, the Corn Exchange has a fantastic lineup of shows. Bookworms, you’re in for a treat too – there’s a whole festival just for you! There’s so much happening this month, so get stuck in and enjoy!

 

Inflatable Fun Day at Victoria Park

Cobbs Play Barn: Balloon Butterfly Card Workshop

2nd, 3rd, 5th and 26th May 10-12pm.

Looking for a fun activity to enjoy with your little ones? Join Cobbs Play Barn in Hungerford for a delightful crafting session where kids can create seasonal Butterfly Cards! 
Kids will have a blast using balloons to make beautiful cards that can brighten up your home or serve as a lovely gift for someone special

Victoria Park Bandstand Sundays

Sunday 4th May 15:00-17:00pm.  Free Entry. Bring a blanket and some snacks
Bandstand Sundays are back.  This is the first of many great performances at the bandstand this season. The fantastic Wroughton Silver Band will be kicking off the season


Buckelbury Farm Park Circus Workshop        

 Join Bucklebury Farm this Bank Holiday weekend!
Entry starts from just £15 per person, with free admission for under-twos. Plus, enjoy free weekend activities and tractor rides!
On Sunday, don’t miss the exciting Circus Workshop running from 11am–4pm.
They are open 9am–5pm all Bank Holiday weekend, with burgers and hot dogs as a specials in the cafe and the Bucklebury Horsebox Bar serving up drinks.

Thatcham VE Day 80 Celebration and Best of British Market

Monday 5th May 10am-3pm

Enjoy your bank holiday by celebrating the Best of British at the special themed market.  From hearty classics to nostalgic treats, you will discover British favourites with a modern twist, served with community spirit and local pride.  There will be live music as well.  

Nature Discovery Centre Events

Various Activities throughout May.

Nature Tots – 8th & 9th – £7 -ages 18 months – 4 years. Join the friendly Nature Tots staff and volunteers to explore the nature reserve and enjoy wildlife themed activities.

Pond Dipping – 28th May – £8 – ages 4-11 – Grab a net and meet some of the fascinating creatures living just out of sight, not to mention those that leave the pond to zoom around in the air.

Basildon Park – Childrens Trail 

17th May -1st of June. This event is free, but normal admission charges apply for the venue.

Come along to Basildon Park this May half term and take part in a children’s spotter trail inspired by the solar system.

Collect your free trail sheet from visitor reception, explore the gardens and spot the planets hidden around the pleasure grounds.

Well Read Literacy Festival at Wasing

25th-26th May Tickets from £30 

Wasing Estate’s ancient woodlands will be transformed into a haven for writers, nature lovers, and wellness enthusiasts at the debut of Well Read. For families, there will be childrens bushcrafts, Nature Art Workshop and a family forest dance.

Shaw House – A Royal Picnic

27th May 10:00-11:00

Join Shaw house to commemorate the 80th anniversary of VE Day with a family picnic, trail and crafts
Younger visitors can collect a ration card and follow an outdoor trail to find the clues, once the card has been completed, they can collect their free sweet rations! (while stocks last)

There will also be free craft activities where you can decorate a crown ready for the celebrations.
Families are welcome to bring a picnic and enjoy the grounds and the café will also be open selling light refreshments, cream teas and treats.

Tiny Town – The maddest tea party in town

28th May 16:00-17:30 

Join Alice and the Mad Hatter for Tea at Tiny Town. There will be singing, games, dancing and photos.
