How I Learned to Stop Doing Everything and Actually Enjoy Both

Post written by Aggie from Emmett Bloom Estates

I am a mum to a two year old and I run two businesses in West Berkshire. An estate agency and a coaching program for women. I do it in a four day week, with Fridays protected for family.

That sentence sounds cleaner than it felt to get here.

Before this, I spent years in corporate sales, then built a telecoms franchise from scratch. Two shops, twenty people, seven days a week. I was good at it. I was also running on empty in a way I kept telling myself was normal. It ended with a hospital stay and a diagnosis that forced me to stop completely.

Stopping was the best thing that ever happened to me professionally.

In the quiet that followed, I got honest about what I actually wanted. I moved to West Berkshire in 2021, with no contacts and no network, and started again in property. I went independent, built Emmett Bloom, and then found out I was pregnant.

I did not pause. I handed in my franchise notice near the end of my pregnancy and launched the business properly with a newborn at home. I worked in between naps. I worked through the night. I worked in the hours when the rest of the world was asleep.

What made it possible was not hustle. It was systems. Knowing exactly what needed me and what did not. Letting go of the idea that doing everything myself was the same as doing it well.

That is what I now teach other women through my BLOOM program. Not a productivity hack. A genuine restructure of how you run your business so it stops running you.
