Victoria Park is located a stones throw away from the heart of Newbury, sandwiched between Parkway Shopping & the A338 with the Kennet & Avon canal lying to the south.
Victoria Park has a generous amount of grassed area boasting a bandstand, bowls court, tennis courts, adventure golf, splash pad, playground – with baby & toddler section & older children’s section, exercise equipment, skate park & a mini lake – There really is something for everyone! You will also find a hut serving ice cream & refreshments.

Donnington Castle Park, Donnington, RG14 2LE
Donnington Castle Playground is situated just down the road from Donnington Castle an English Heritage site. The playground is set within a recreation ground of a large open expanse of grass. The play area consists of a small fenced off section and a larger section which features a big wooden play castle very fitting of it’s surroundings, with lots of different elements. There is also a zip wire, swings, roundabout, see-saw and more. There is a free car park just off the road.
Snelsmore Country Park, Newbury, RG14 3BQ
- There is a cafe called ‘The Snugg’ and toilets with disabled access.
- There is a picnic area with benches and a large field often popular for picnics in the summertime
- There is plenty of free car parking space open from 8am-8pm
- Dogs are welcome politely asked to be kept on leads on the main common during the bird nesting season (1 March – 31 July)

The Nature Discovery Centre, Thatcham, RG19 3FU
The Thatcham Reedbed Nature Reserve and Discovery Centre consists of three large lakes which boast the following facilities:
- Lakeside Café offering hot and cold food and drinks
- Gift shop with wildlife themed gifts, toys and books

- Two Adventure Playgrounds

The older children’s playground is a huge wooden multi-story climbing frame, with a tunnel slide, obstacle course and zipwire.
The younger children’s play area is separate and has plenty of suitable play equipment such as, rockers, slides, fireman’s pole, small climbing frame, balance beams and swings.

Holybrook Linear Park, Calcot, RG31 7AW
A Green Flag Award Winning Park – Holybrook Linear Park is a beautiful green space in Calcot with woodland, river basin, meadow grassland, play areas, sports pitches, a basketball court & changing rooms.

Basildon Park Estate, Lower Basildon, RG8 9NR
The Basildon Park estate spans 162 hectares of historic parkland surrounding the house and garden. There are many areas of the parkland for children to explore and play in, plus many spaces to enjoy a picnic.
There are four waymarked walks around the parkland that are easy to follow and vary in length and terrain. Choose from a short 20-minute stroll to a two-hour trek across the landscape. Further things to see include:

Lydiard Park, Swindon SN5 3PA
Lydiard Park is a historic estate on the western edge of Swindon. It contains the Palladian House, church, walled garden, museum & playground and is set in 260 acres of parkland.
The playground at offers colourful play & extensive climbing equipment suitable for children of all ages. There is a dedicated play area for toddlers, with special equipment to enjoy early adventures in swinging, climbing and sliding.

Coate Water country Park is on the edge of Swindon & boasts an idyllic lakeside setting, a children’s playground, summer splash pool, canoeing, all year café. miniature railway (open on Sundays) and ample green space. It is both a Nature Reserve & a Site of Specific Scientific Interest which means it is also bursting with wildlife!

Stanton Park is a few minutes drive from Swindon, it is a beautiful nature reserve and 74 hectare country park.

Bowood House & Gardens, Calne, SN11 0LZ
Bowood House & Gardens is set in 100 acres of beautiful parkland, with a lake, arboretum, pinetum & cascade. Bowood House lies in the grounds which is open to visitors.
Children aged 12 and under can enjoy a range of activities from walking along the treetops on a series of aerial walkways to taking the plunge down the a 19ft vertical drop Space Dive! The playground is also equipped with balance beams, boat swings, Jumping Pillows, and climbing frames. There is also a tractor trail and sandpit.
‘The Den’ is a new activity barn focused on activities & interactive play for under 7’s – with opportunities to role play in a farm yard, farm shop & café. There is also a tractor trail & a sand pit.

Queen Elizabeth Gardens, Salisbury, SP2 7TD
Queen Elizabeth Gardens is one of Salisbury best-loved parks. With famous views of the cathedral to the east and sitting alongside the River Avon to the south, it is perfect for those looking to appreciate the scenery or to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the city centre. Warminster Lake Pleasure Grounds is set in beautiful surroundings just a short walk from the town centre. The Lake is the focal point of the park & offers Rowing Boat & Canoe hire.
There is a play area & splash pad, a putting green, state of the art skatepark, tennis courts & the Pavilion Cafe offering take away food.

Hilworth Park, Devizes, SN10 5HB
You will find Hillworth Park a short distance from Devizes town centre. It is a fairly small, well-maintained park with beautiful flowers and stunning Giant Oak & Sweet Chestnut trees.
There is an extensive playground with a fenced in area for under 6’s, a free to use tennis (no need to book), outdoor fitness equipment, a five-a-side football & basketball pitch & a skate park.
