PR visit
A wonderful morning full of music at Ramsbury Memorial Hall, with two captivating interactive performances: The Singing Shell (for ages 0–3) and Whale Song (for ages 4–10). Both were delivered by two incredible musicians, Lucia Vernon-Long and Sam Peña, whose energy and skill created an inspiring musical experience for children and families alike.
Each session was beautifully tailored to its age group. In The Singing Shell, the youngest audience members were gently introduced to rhythm, melody, and sound through singing, movement, and playful instrumental exploration. Whale Song built on these foundations, offering older children opportunities to experiment with compositional ideas and structured improvisation appropriate to their level.
A particular highlight was the remarkable improvisation by pianist Sam Peña, who took four sea-related musical ideas suggested by the audience and wove them together into a captivating improvised piece. It was a magical moment - a true example of creativity in real time, and a rare opportunity for children to witness live musical invention.
Both performances were engaging, inclusive, and musically enriching. It was wonderful for children to experience such high-quality live music-making alongside brilliant, professional musicians. An inspiring morning for all who attended.
