We were absolutely delighted to visit our partners at Arlington Arts to attend an evening with the wonderful Cara Dillon - and what a treat it was!
Cara Dillon is a Northern Irish folk singer of extraordinary talent, and performing alongside her was her husband and fellow musician Sam Lakeman. Together, they are simply magical. There is a warmth and ease to their stage presence that goes beyond performance. It feels less like a concert and more like an intimate conversation with two people who genuinely love what they do. They draw the audience in, weave stories between songs, and create a sense of togetherness, ending the evening on a firm folk favourite, The Parting Glass.
Every note and word is sung with real passion, and we felt every bit of it on the night. The folk music was gorgeous, the stories were captivating, and the whole evening had that rare quality of feeling both special and completely relaxed.
Arlington Arts continues to do what it does best: bringing exceptional talent from across the country to our corner of West Berkshire. It’s a wonderful venue, and evenings like this are a reminder of just how much incredible live music is on our doorstep.
A huge thank you to Arlington Arts for having us. We can’t wait to come back!
