February half term is just around the corner! If you’re looking for things to help keep the children occupied, we’ve got you covered. Check out our round-up of events & activities in the area below.

WIKIDS

WIKIDS (Workouts Inspiring Kids) has a range of classes and activities for children aged 2-15 that help them get moving and be active. WIKIDS is running a half term holiday club for 4-11 year olds on Thursday 24 February from 9am-1pm at Coronation Hall in Kintbury. For more details and to book, email Nicki: nicki@wikids.co.uk.

Shaw House

The Three Billy Goats Gruff – Monday 21 February 11am & 1pm

A puppet theatre show suitable for children aged 3-6 (older and younger children welcome). Tickets are £9 for adults and £7 for children (under 2s are free). Find out more and book your tickets online.

Family Activity Morning: Brilliant Bunnies – Wednesday 23 February from 10am

Decorate a ceramic bunny. A craft activity suitable for 7-11 year olds (older and younger children are welcome). £2 per child, you must pre-book as spaces are limited. Session times are 10am-10.45am, 11am-11.45am and 12pm-12.45pm. Find out more and book your tickets online.

Movie in the Hall: Paddington – Thursday 24 February 10.30am-12.05pm

Watch Paddington in Shaw House’s hall. Doors open at 10am, film starts at 10.30am. £5 adults and £3 children. Book your tickets online.

Small Group Family Art Workshop: Dinosaurs – Tuesday 22 February -10am-12.30pm

An illustration workshop from Armadillo Art Experience. A 2.5 hour workshop suitable for children aged 7+. One accompanying adult needs to remain with the child. £12 per child. Find out more and book a place via the website.

Museum Family Craft Workshop – Thursday 24 February from 10am

A free craft session where children will make their own figure out of recycled materials. Places are limited and need to be booked. Aimed at 7-11 year olds but older and younger children are welcome. Book your slot online.

Messy Museum Morning – Friday 25 February from 10am

Make a colourful mini dinosaur using modelling clay and paint. £2 per child, advance booking is required as places are limited. Find out more and book your time slot online.

Corn Exchange, Newbury

Swings & Roundabouts – Sunday 20 February, 2pm, 4pm & 8pm

A show inspired by the unique experience of parenting in lockdown. Featuring original songs, fun and games, and emotional ups and downs. Babies under 12 months are welcome but this is a show by parents, for parents. Show times: 2pm, 4pm &  8pm (show is one hour long). Tickets are £10 (£1 for babes in arms). Holiday Club – 21 February – 25 February 9am-12pm & 1pm-4pm

A holiday club for children aged 5-8 (9am-1pm) and 9-12 (12pm-4pm). Children will explore the creative arts. £25 per child, per session. Find out more and book online.

The Smartest Giant in TownFriday 25 February – Sunday 27 February

Half Term Fun at Theale Library – Monday 21-Saturday 26 February 9am-5pm

Suitable for children aged 5+, there will be puzzles and brainteasers to solve. A drop-in event.

A free drop in activity for children age 4+. They will make their own medieval badge based on an artefact found in Hungerford.

Glow Tots Sensory

Free flow, child led sessions where children play and explore using a range of educational sensory equipment and toys including sounds, bubbles, textures and lights.

Suitable for children from birth to age 4. £6.50 per child.

Sessions take place in Burghfield on 22 February, Upper Basildon on 23 February and Thatcham on 24 February.

City Arts Newbury

City Arts has a couple of workshops running during half term:

Clay Owls for Kids – Thursday 24 February 10am-12pm & 2pm-4pm

Code Ninjas Newbury 

Code Ninjas in Newbury is running some camps over February half term, including ‘Become a YouTuber,’ ‘Become a Roblox Developer’ and ‘Build Your Own Fan Page.’

Feel the Love – 19 February – 27 February

There will be a valentine’s trail to follow, crafts, the opportunity to build a nesting box and to meet the ‘love bugs.’

Nature Discovery Centre

Brilliant Birds and Where to Find Them – Tuesday 22, Wednesday 23 & Thursday 24 February 10am-2pm

Suitable for families with children aged 4-11. Take part in a craft activity, explore a bird trail and solve a puzzle. £5 per child (accompanying adults are free). Advance booking is recommended, a limited number of tickets may be available on the day.

Parkway Shopping Newbury

Meet Jack in a Box at The Entertainer – Saturday 19 February from 10am

The Entertainer’s mascot, Jack in a Box, will be appearing at the store, giving you the opportunity to meet him and have photos taken.

Kids Corner Train and Bumper Carz Fun – every day through half term until Sunday 27 February 10.30am-4.30pm

There will be some children’s rides including a train and bumper cars. The train is £2 per ride and the cars are £3 per ride. More details can be found on the Facebook event.

Snowdrops at Welford Park

Running Wednesday – Sunday 11am-4pm until 6 March 2022

Visit Welford Park to see the beautiful snowdrop carpet.

You can purchase tickets online (£9 adults, £7 concessions, £4.50 children, £25 for a family ticket – booking fee applies in addition) or on the gate (£10 adults, £8 concession, £5 children, under 4s free).

For ages 11+. The 2pm-3pm session is for those in school years 7-9 and the 3.30pm-4.30pm session is for school years 10-13.
