In 2016, West Berkshire’s Children’s Centres were replaced by ‘Family Wellbeing Hubs.’ The Hubs continue to support families with children aged up to 5 and offer the same services as the Children’s Centres but from a number of different locations within the area.
There are three Family Wellbeing Hubs in West Berkshire:
- Central Family Wellbeing Hub – Thatcham;
- East Family Wellbeing Hub – Calcot; and
- West Family Wellbeing Hub – Newbury.
There is also Hungerford Centre for Children & Families which covers Hungerford, Lambourn & Kintbury.
Details of many of the sessions run by the Hubs can be found on our ‘What’s On’ section but we would advise checking that the details are up to date before going along. Central Family Wellbeing Hub – Thatcham
The Central Family Wellbeing Hub is on Park Lane in Thatcham. Sessions also take place at Crabtree Community Centre, Compton Village Hall and Compton Surgery.
Sessions include Stay, Play & Learn, Messy Play, Baby Group, Wiggle Tots, Wiggle Babies and a Well Baby Clinic. The Hub’s timetable can be viewed here. You can also keep up to date via Facebook.

The East Family Wellbeing Hub is on Curtis Road in Calcot. Other session locations include Springfield School in Tilehurst, Pangbourne Primary School, Theale Village Hall, Padworth Village Hall, The Cornwell Centre and St Oswald’s Church in Burghfield Common.

Hungerford Children’s Centre covers Hungerford, Lambourn, Kintbury, Inkpen, Great Shefford and Welford and Wickham. Sessions also take place at Jubilee Hall in Kintbury and The British Legion in Lambourn.
