The Easter holidays are fast approaching! If you’re looking for things to help keep the children occupied, we’ve got you covered. Check out our round-up of events & activities in the area below. There’s loads going on!

WIKIDS

WIKIDS (Workouts Inspiring Kids) has a range of classes and activities for children aged 2-15 that help them get moving and be active. WIKIDS is running an Easter holiday club for 4-11 year olds on Monday 11 & Thursday 14 April from 9am-3pm in Kintbury. For more details and to book, email Nicki: nicki@wikids.co.uk.

Cobbs Play Barn & Farm Shop

Cobbs Play Barn is re-opening on Monday 4 April 2022 and is running a few events over the Easter holidays.

Cobbs I-spy Easter Trail

Open from Monday 4 – Monday 18 April – FREE ENTRY

Pick up a map from Cobbs Play Barn, head up to the farm and follow the I-spy trail. Once you’ve found all the clues head back to the Play Barn to collect an Easter egg reward.

Easter Egg Decorating

Wednesday 13 & Thursday 14 April

Enjoy a fun and relaxed Easter create & play session in the Play Barn. Tickets include: 1 Easter egg to paint & all materials, time to play, an Easter treat and a child’s juice carton. £12 per child.

Weekly classes

Boogie Mites, Yabba Dance & WIKIDS will all be running regular weekly classes at the Play Barn, starting from the week commencing 4 April. Classes run during the Easter holidays. Shaw House

Family Activity Morning: Marvellous Masks – Wednesday 13 April 10am-12.45pm

Decorate a spring themed wooden mask. Aimed at 7-11 year olds but older and younger children are welcome.

Movie in the Hall: HOP – Tuesday 19 April 10.30am-12.05pm

Family Activity Morning: Bright Birds – Wednesday 20 April 10am-12.45pm

Decorate a ceramic bird hanging decoration. Aimed at 7-11 year olds but older and younger children are welcome.

Messy Museum Morning: Let there be Light! – Thursday 14 April 10am-12.45pm

Make a decorate a Roman oil lamp out of air-drying clay.

Aimed at 7-11 year olds but older and younger children are welcome.

Messy Museum Morning: Face it! – Friday 22 April 10am-12.45pm

Make a face out of air-drying clay.

Bats at the Museum – Friday 22 April 8.30pm-9.15pm

Drop-in Family Craft – Saturday 23 April 10am-4pm

A free session where you can decorate a pennant with your own design – this will form part of the bunting used to decorate the museum for the Queen’s Jubilee weekend.

Corn Exchange, Newbury

Nick Cope – Sunday 9 April 10.30am

A performance by the Corn Exchange’s Infant and Junior Youth Theatre.

The Base, Greenham

The Base’s Festival of Arts & Crafts – Saturday 9 April – Monday 18 April 10am-4pm

“Come and celebrate all things arts and crafts with us at The Base’s inaugural Festival of Arts & Crafts from Saturday 9 to Monday 18 April featuring vibrant craft fairs, creative taster workshops and a stunning exhibition of local peoples’ art work.

Both weekends during the 10 day Festival will feature a craft market surrounding The Base building, with artists displaying work for sale in the Gallery. Visitors will have the opportunity to have a go at a range of workshops from our vibrant programme of arts and crafts workshops and courses, or leave their mark on our doodle wall!”

Easter Egg Hunt in Newbury

Saturday 9 – Sunday 24 April in Newbury town centre

A charity Easter egg hunt with proceeds going to Swings & Smiles. Find all of the eggs hidden in Newbury and you could win a prize.

You can download your trail sheet online and make a donation (download it here), or pick up your sheet from The Ugly Duckling in Newbury and make a donation there.

EasterFest in Newbury

Friday 15 – Sunday 17 April in Newbury Town Centre

A three-day Wonderland themed Easter event featuring Alice, the Mad Hatter and the Queen of Hearts. The Easter Bunny will be hosting story times, there will be an Easter egg hunt around town plus street entertainers, live music and market stalls.

Newbury Racecourse

Easter Family Day – Sunday 17 April

There will be activities for the whole family including storytelling, Easter egg hunt, crafts, face painting and a petting zoo.

Glow Tots Sensory

Free flow, child led sessions where children play and explore using a range of educational sensory equipment and toys including sounds, bubbles, textures and lights.

Suitable for children from birth to age 4. £6.50 per child.

Sessions take place in Burghfield on 12 & 19 April, Upper Basildon on 13 & 20 April and Thatcham on 21 April.

City Arts Newbury

City Arts has a couple of workshops running during half term:

Easter Printing with Charlotte Adcock – Saturday 9 April 11am-1pm

A workshop for children of all ages. Children will learn carve and printing techniques using foam and make some Easter prints. £10. More details and booking here.

Easter Wreath for Kids– Saturday 16 April 10.30am-12pm

A workshop for children of all ages where they will make an Easter wreath. £15. More details and booking here.

The Watermill Theatre, Newbury

Play in a Week – Monday 11 -Thursday 14 April

9am-12pm (8-11 year olds) and 1pm-4pm (12-16 year olds).

Children will develop a play to perform to friends and family at the end of the week.

Code Ninjas Newbury 

Code Ninjas in Newbury is running some camps over the Easter holidays including ‘Become a YouTuber,’ ‘3D Design and print’ and ‘Code Your Own Robot in Minecraft.’

Bucklebury Farm

Easter Egg-Stravaganza – 16 & 18 April 10am-12.30pm or 2pm-4.30pm

Basildon Park

Easter Adventures in Nature – 8-25 April

Enjoy an Easter themed trail around the park. The trail costs £3 each (in addition to normal admission charges) and you will receive a prize when you’ve finished.

Beale Park

Celebrate Spring (and Easter)– 8-24 April

Take part in an Easter egg trail, meet the new animal arrivals and play on the new bouncy slide.

Beale Park is also running a ‘Zoo Academy’ holiday club over the Easter break. It is for 5-12 year olds and is running 11-14 April and 19-22 April.

The Living Rainforest

The Living Rainforest is based at Hampstead Norreys near Newbury and is open for visits.

Nature Discovery Centre

Family Easter Trail: Find the Fox Cubs – Monday 11, Tuesday 12, Wednesday 13 & Thursday 14 April 10am-2pm

Suitable for families with children aged 4-11. Help mother fox find her missing cubs and earn an Easter treat. £4 per child (accompanying adults are free). Advance booking is recommended, a limited number of tickets may be available on the day.

Easter Bunny Craft Workshop at Artisans Handmade – Tuesday 12 April 10.30am-12pm

A workshop for children aged 4+, run by Naomi from Little Foxglove and held at the Artisans Handmade shop at Parkway in Newbury (in the old Superdry unit).

Thatcham Roller Disco – Saturday 9 April 5pm-7.45pm at Kennet Leisure Centre

Easter Party – Thursday 14 April 6pm-8pm

Eggstravaganza Trail – Friday 8 April-Sunday 24 April 9.30am-8.30pm

Waterside Centre, Newbury

The Waterside Centre is running various activities for children in school years 4-11. 

Activities include coding workshops, arts & crafts, paddling, and climbing. 

Each session costs £5. There is an additional cost of £3 for a hot meal.

KD Gymnastics is running an Easter Camp on Tuesday 12 & 19 April and Thursday 14 & 21 April from 12pm-3.30pm.
