Cobbs Play Barn - A bespoke wooden play barn in Hungerford
Cobbs Play Barn opened in October 2015 and is situated just behind the Farm Shop and Café in Hungerford. It has a dedicated parking area and is accessed via a small bridge. The entrance door is operated with a push release button (only accessible inside the building by the Play Barn staff) so you don’t need to worry about little ones trying to escape.
The layout of the Play Barn is very different from traditional soft play centres. There are booths down one side with picnic-style benches in the middle; the wooden play frame is situated at the far end of the Barn. Shoe storage is provided, and there are hooks at the end of the booths.
Although small, children will still enjoy climbing the structure and exploring what it has to offer. The Play Barn is suitable for toddlers and children up to 8 years and there is a small ‘soft zone’ area for very young children.
We took a West Berkshire Family Life three-year-old for a play; she had fun on the lower level of the play frame but she did need some help getting up to the higher sections; however, there were some slightly older children there who had no problems with this!
Taking the essence of their main cafe and farm shop, the Play Barn has created a relaxing and comfortable space for you to enjoy a coffee and some tasty grub!
They aim to provide children and their parents with healthy and nutritious food choices. Lots of tasty homemade food options are available to grab from the counter – including Cobbs sandwiches and sausage rolls, or if you fancy a heartier lunchtime meal, customers are also welcome to order from the main café menu.
Alongside these options, you will find a delicious range of cakes, including gluten-free options, and don’t forget their barista coffee!
There are plenty of high chairs available and an accessible toilet with baby changing facilities. Step stools are provided in the toilets so that little hands can reach the sinks.
Bottle warming facilities are also available. There is free Wi-Fi on offer, and there are USB charging points at every table.
