There are so many Christmas events taking place in the area this year! You can get your Christmas shopping done at one of the many markets, take the children to a pantomime or get creative at a Christmas crafting event. There is something to suit all budgets and ages. Check out our list of events below.

Lantern Making Workshops – Saturday 4 & Sunday 5 December at 101 Outdoors, Greenham

Make your own lantern for the lantern procession – Festival of Light – taking place on Sunday 12 December. The workshops are free but need to be booked. Sessions take place at 10am, 1pm and 4pm. Find out more and book here.

Festival of Light – Sunday 12 December 6pm in Newbury

Newbury’s annual Festival of Light procession which will travel along Northbrook Street to the Market Place.

If you are spectating you will need to book a spectator ticket. These are free and can be booked via the Corn Exchange website.

If you have participated in a Lantern Making Workshop you will be provided with a code to book your lantern bearer ticket.

Christmas at Basildon Park: Lights & Liminality

Until 5 January 2022 (closed 24 & 25 December)

The house at Basildon Park has been transformed into a winter wonderland. There is a Percy the Park Keeper’s Winter Wander trail for children (trail packs are available to purchase from reception) and an illuminated wintry woodland walk. Find out more on the website.

Festive Craft Pack & Victorian Christmas Card Craft Pack

Drop in to the museum and pick up a festive craft pack (from 1 December) and a Victorian Christmas Card Craft Pack (from 3 December) for 50p each.

Christmas Adventure at 4 Kingdoms Adventure Park

Magical Christmas Adventure – 3 December -24 December

An interactive indoor Christmas experience featuring a sleigh ride to the North Pole, build your own bear, an ice castle, toy factory, enchanted forest, and of course a visit to Father Christmas. You can book online at www.4-kingdoms.co.uk. Tickets start from £25 for adults and £35 for children.

A festive family fun day on Thatcham Broadway with live entertainment, a petting farm, stalls and a treasure hunt. More details via the Facebook event.

Festive Clay Decoration Making at The Base, Greenham

Saturday 4 December 10am-3pm

For children aged 6-12, make hanging decorations from clay. £19 per child which includes a biscuit and a drink. A 2 hour session.

St Mary’s Church Shaw Christingle Service

Sunday 5 December 4pm

Join us at St Mary’s as we get ready to celebrate the coming of Jesus, the Light of the World at our Christingle Service

We will process from Shaw House main gate at 3.45pm.

Feel free to bring a lantern to light your way.

Every child will receive a lighted Christingle at this magical candlelit service inside the church.

Santa Boat Trips in Newbury

18 December – 23 December

A canal boat trip to ‘Greenham Land.’ Tickets cost £9 and this includes a gift from Santa for the children and a mulled wine or hot drink and a mince pie for the adults. Advance booking is essential.
