Here at WestBerkshireMums we know that breastfeeding doesn’t come naturally to many mums. If you are breastfeeding and you would like some support, or if you’re pregnant and would like some information on breastfeeding, you might want to try going along to one of West Berkshire’s breastfeeding support groups. The Family Wellbeing Hubs run weekly support groups as does the Breastfeeding Network; you can find details of these groups below.
The Wellbeing Hubs’ groups are run on a drop in basis by the Health Visiting team and the Hub staff. The groups provide information and support along with the opportunity to meet other breastfeeding mums. They run on the following days & times:
11am-12pm on Tuesdays at Hungerford & Area Children’s Centre, The Croft, Hungerford, RG17 0HY, £1 per family.
10am-11am on Thursdays at West Berkshire West Family Wellbeing Hub, Victoria Park, Newbury, RG14 1EH, partners and older siblings are welcome.
1.45pm-3.15pm on Thursdays at West Berkshire East Family Wellbeing Hub, Curtis Road, Calcot, RG31 4XG.
The Breastfeeding Network runs a group on Wednesdays from 10am til 11.30am at The Wellbeing Centre, 6 Pound Street, Newbury, RG14 6AA. The group is run by the Network’s supporters and helpers. There is a requested donation of £1 per visit.
The Breastfeeding Network’s website has information and resources on breastfeeding; you can also call the National Breastfeeding helpline on 0300 100 0212 (open every day 9.30am-9.30pm).
Newbury & District NCT’s Cafe Bambino drop in group for parents & carers with babies under 12 months also now provides breastfeeding support from a Breastfeeding Peer Supporter between 9.30am and 10.30am. The group meets at our partner Cafe Estro in Debenhams in Newbury from 9.30am-11.30am. You do not need to be an NCT to go along to the group. You can find out more on the Facebook page or the NCT website.
We advise checking that all details are correct and up to date before going along to one of the groups listed.
